Snapchat Launches Paperclip
Finally! Snapchat is rolling out new features to take back some of the mojo that they lost from Instagram and Facebook. Snapchat has released a new feature that allows users to add external website links to their snaps. Snapchat’s linking feature called “Paperclip” allows users to attach their website URL to their snap by tapping the paperclip icon that appears after a snap is taken. Once added, users viewing the snap can swipe up to visit the URL.
If you’re a marketer or business owner with a Snapchat account, it only makes sense to use this new feature. Trying to promote your new blog post? Snap it, paperclip it. Having a sale on your website? Snap it, paperclip it.
Any opportunity you have to drive more traffic to your website needs to be utilized to the fullest extent. Now, get to paperclipping!
Google Rolls Out Business Listing Chat
At this point, most of you have claimed your Google Business Listing and entered your basic info such as address, phone number, website and a few other tidbits. That’s great! However, there’s many more features that Google My Business has to offer that can further promote your business and provide users new ways to interact with you.
A few months back, Google rolled out Google Posts, where businesses can post events, products and services directly to Google Search and Maps.
Now, Google has launched a new chat feature, giving users the ability to message you directly from your business listing within the search engine results page. You can have a full blown out conversation with a prospect without them ever having to go to your website or picking up the phone. This falls in line with what we’ve been preaching for quite some time… Google is constantly trying to find ways to make the user’s journey from point A to point B faster and more convenient.
Turning your business chat on is simple.
- Log into your Google My Business Account,
- Select “manage location” in your business listing box.
- Find the chat window and click on the “Turn On Messaging” button.
- Enter your contact info and verify your information
Thanks for giving us yet another way to collect leads, Google!
LinkedIn Debuts Video Sharing w/ Powerful Insights
They may be the last social platform to come to the table when it comes to video, but they’re packing the biggest punch. LinkedIn is currently rolling out its new video sharing feature, which allows businesses to upload videos to the LinkedIn news feed. The videos can be up to 10 minutes long and the uploader will be able to view standard performance metrics such as views, likes and shares.
Seems pretty standard, right?
Here’s the kicker. LinkedIn’s metrics are going one step further by providing the job title and company name of the viewers. This is an absolute DREAM if you’re a B2B marketer. Knowing exactly which companies and level of employees interact with your video can have a major influence on your sales and marketing efforts.
It seems like this feature is sporadically available at the moment, mostly popping up on mobile devices, but LinkedIn promises it will be rolled out worldwide in the next month or so.
If you haven’t done so already, now is the perfect time to start producing videos for your business and building your video content strategy.
That’s it for this month’s installment of What You Need To Know About Digital Marketing. Enjoy your August and Happy Marketing!
